Welcome to the First Annual Leadership Newark Summit

Dear Prospective Conference Attendee:

Thank you for your interest in “Rebuilding The Dream That is Newark”, the 2013 Leadership Newark Public Policy Summit! A team of consultants working on behalf of Leadership Newark surveyed several small group gatherings in & around the City of Newark to ascertain topics local citizen find of interest or concern.  Based on the responses, the 2013 Summit is designed to include in depth discussions on education, economic recovery, crime/public safety as well as health & environment.  The intent of the Summit is to provide a conference setting for Newark stakeholders to become informed about the latest developments on these public policy issues and how they are impacting urban communities.  The conference provides a space for policy wonks and those interested in learning more to jointly share their thoughts, ideas and concerns and more importantly, solutions.

We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker Van Jones.  As co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, the national movement highlighting hard hitting economic challenges communities such as  Newark faces on a daily basis, Van Jones will bring the national agenda to the forefront, which serves to help us understand and navigate just how we as a community can bring our theme,“Rebuilding The Dream That is Newark”, to fruition. Van Jones is the co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, the national movement highlighting hard hitting economic challenges communities such as Newark faces on a daily basis.  Mr. Jones is also a pioneer & advocate in the environmental movement and the former green jobs advisor to the Obama White House.  We are excited to bring Van Jones to share his expertise, time and talent.  He as well as our state and local experts will be invaluable resources, as all participants will be guided to roll up their sleeves to develop solutions to many of the issues affecting the community.  Yes, the 2013 Summit has built in accountabilities and all participants will be given a toolkit, homework and resources to guide the process.

Take a look at the list of speakers, workshops and vendors and sign up to attend.  Check the site frequently as it will be updated on a regular basis and do not miss the early bird registration.  We look forward to seeing you on November 2, 2013 as a participant at the 2013 Leadership Newark Public Policy Summit, “Rebuilding The Dream That is Newark”.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  See you at the Summit!
